Childhood Obesity – What Can We Do?

Hi everyone…I really feel passionate about doing my part to help stop childhood obesity from becoming the ‘trend’ that it has recently. I want to make a difference. I feel lost at times at what kind of approach to take.
The Fit Chic
I love being around children and was thinking about creating some sort of outdoor fitness session for kids. I have not worked any specific details yet.

However, then I start thinking that what if I do this and then they go home to their parents where they are only offered processed, high fatty foods? All of my efforts would be abolished. Or would they?

Yet Another Reason to Reduce Your Fat Intake

Hi everyone, I have just read an article in the U.S. Today that concluded your risk of dementia is 3. 6 times higher if you carry excess body fat around your waist. Researchers have already proven that excess weight in belly area will increase your risk of diabetes, stroke, and heart disease. However, this is the first study to reveal that it also increases your chances of getting dementia. This includes Alzheimer’s Disease- an incurable brain disease.
The Fit Chic
” But even people who’d kept close tabs on overall body weight were at risk if they sported a spare tire: They were 1.8 times more likely to develop dementia compared with people who were lean all over. The study appears in today’s online edition of Neurology.”

You can read more about this is at: http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2008-03-26-belly-dementia_n.htm

Give Your Mind a “Tune Up”

Hi everyone! Today marks the day that I ‘get back on track’ with my eating and workouts. I’m so excited because I FEEL ready! I know that I can still tone up and achieve remarkable fat loss through getting my mind in the right place.

The Fit Chic
Last night I put my food journal on the kitchen counter so that it will be ready for me to jot my meals in. Something different I did was journal on the bottom of the same page about how I will feel when I begin to eat totally clean and wholesome again. I mentioned how energized I will feel. Also, how much more I will get accomplished throughout the day because my mind will be more clear. When you feed your body great foods, the benefits are felt in all aspects of the body, such as the mind. I did this journaling just before bed. This is a good time to write down your thoughts because the conscious part of your mind is more relaxed and clear.

I have also taken these past two weeks to clear my mind and establish the ‘WHY’ behind my next set of goals. To get myself in a positive frame of mind, I have been listening to

The Benefits of Taking Time Off of Your Program

Hello everyone…:) As most of you all know I have just recently achieved my goal body fat of 14%. I am VERY pleased with this. It takes a lot of inspired willpower, focus, and serious commitment to achieve this kind of fat loss! Thank you for all of your encouragement along the way.
The Fit Chic
I just want to mention that sometimes when you go really strong in your plan to achieve a deadline such as a ‘photo shoot’ (as in our case), it is advisable to take some time off for a few weeks. Now, I’m not saying to eat like crap and gain lots of fat. No way! Right now I feel I need a mental break to create some ‘new goals.’ I want to have a plan laid out so that I know where I am going from here. I plan to post up my new goals soon so that I remain accountable to all of you!

Do You Enjoy Jogging?

HI everyone! I thought that this was a worthwhile topic because so many people I know think that they HAVE to jog to achieve weight/fat loss. This is NOT true!

I am not a big fan of long duration jogging. However, what I absolutely LOVE to do is challenge myself to jog at a decent speed for a couple of minutes (2-5 min.) and then I slow it down to a brisk walk or very light jog. The benefits of this type of cardio is
