Barack Obama, the President of the United States, is making it to the gym 6-7X/week for 90 minutes. What a great role model. I mean he could have every excuse to not make it, but he understands the importance that physical fitness plays in his role as the leader of his country. He strongly believes that, “physical fitness yields mental fitness.” The two concepts have been married in his mind ever since says his family and friends. I, too, strongly believe that my mind is much more focused and better apt to perform mental tasks more efficiently when I workout that day. [Read more →]

Here are just a few ways that your relationship will enhance when you workout with your partner:

1. Begin to feel more connected as a couple. Now you have a common goal to focus on. You are both putting your thoughts and energy into creating an atmosphere for your goals to flourish. Working out together is quality time. You will have a lot of talk about. You will have a solid half hour to truly bond. You can plan to workout when you are most likely to have little interruption.

2. Lifestyle will become more conducive to a fit and healthy couple. This is fantastic! When you begin to workout together and feel GREAT, you want this feeling all the time. You will begin to appreciate quality, wholesome foods. You will realize that eating well makes you FEEL well. When you feel well, your entire outlook on life enhances! As a couple you may begin to question some of your current activities if they do not suit a healthy lifestyle. For example, sitting on the couch for hours and eating chips on a daily basis is not what fit people do day after day. You will find yourself gravitating towards activities such as: joining a walking club or bowling. This is just what happens when you realize how awesome being fit feels!

The problem is that their plan is not very specific and it lacks the compelling reasons WHY they want to be in better shape. If you fall into the category of going all out come Jan 1 - working out 5 days/week, eating well, feeling great, only to wake up one morning with enough motivation to shut off the alarm clock, you definitely need to dig deeper into why you want to lose the weight and come up with a long term plan.

Do you find you are mostly on your own when it comes to eating healthy and having intentions of losing weight? Is your partner overweight, yet doing nothing about it? Are you the only one in your household enjoying large salads, nuts, and fresh fruit and berries? [Read more →]

I thought this was an interesting study to report from Boston College: “60% of the successful dieters had strong beliefs that they could handle uncomfortable situations. Their thoughts reflect a very positive and firm belief that they are in control of their eating.”
Whereas, two-thirds of the unsuccessful dieters reported worries about what other people were thinking of them.

You, too, can be a very successful eater. Work on these stategies: [Read more →]

Check-In Call

Nov 11 · by Angie Tousignant

I just wanted to share a great tip with you that I find is working very well with my training clients. We have a ‘check in’ call. We set up a time to do a quick call to each other in the morning. This call is solely to let the other person know that you did your cardio. Wow, is it effective!

Once that alarm goes off in the morning, I am UP! I am ready to get going on my bike or walk because I know that someone is counting on me to do it. I know that I will be getting a call soon and I don’t want to have any lame excuses. This set up will encourage you to be accountable to a plan and motivated to prove to someone else that you did it! Creating Unstoppable Motivation

Oct 27 · by Scott Tousignant

Recently I was interviewed by Sincere Hogan as a series dedicated to raising money for the victims of Hurricane Ike. Sincere grilled my friend Scott Colby and I on the topic of mindset and motivation and we dished out some great information which I am certain will accelerate your fat loss results.

Here are some of the questions that Sincere asked us…
