Every Other Day Diet Extreme Plan Journal-Day 18

Bye Bye LOVE HANDLES! Yesterday I mentioned how much I’ve enjoyed seeing my leaner body in the mirror after following the Every Other Day Diet Plan for a few weeks now. Well I’m even more excited today because I took special notice of my love handles disappearing before my eyes and even more definition in my abs. I’ve also taken notice of the increased definition in my arms and shoulders.

I’ve got to show you a picture of myself one year ago and compare the definition of my arms and shoulders. I was more bulky and rounded. Now I’m getting cut and defined. What a difference! I’ll post that picture along with my most recent one real soon. I’m so excited for that.
Maybe it’s because I’ve been experiencing such great results that I have been cheating on the meals every few days. Today I caved in and had some chocolate fudge crackle ice cream. I enjoyed every second of that. Basically it seems like I’m following the Every Other Day Diet Lifestyle Plan rather than the Every Other Day Diet Extreme Plan. On the Lifestyle Plan you have a feed day after 2 days of eating healthy natural foods and lower calories. The Primer Plan allows the every other day feeding.
So I’ve got to make an important decision. If I’m going to continue to try and follow the Every Other Day Diet Extreme Plan, which I know I can follow and have no problem with it, or to go with the Every Other Day Diet Lifestyle Plan which I’ve kind of been following and have experienced great success.

Right now my inclination is to put in a serious honest effort on the Every Other Day Diet Extreme Plan for the next week to see how I feel and what the results are like. After that time, if I feel like I want to go to the Every Other Day Diet Lifestyle Plan, I would be happy with that decision.
This is the really cool thing about the Every Other Day Diet. There are 3 different plans that can fit into anyones lifestyle. If this was a typical diet that only had 1 option and I found that I couldn’t stick to it, chances are I would probably scrap the entire plan all together.
I don’t feel like I’ve failed at all on the Extreme Plan because I look at the Lifestyle Plan and say, “Hey I would be kickin some serious butt if I was following this level of the program! And I am.”
If I can indulge in ice cream, chocolate bars, pizza, and other not so healthy things and still lose nearly 10 pounds of fat in 3 weeks, so can you. Doesn’t it sound easy? Honestly I’m floored at how my body has utilized stored fat as fuel and given me the energy and body that I deserve. Plus I can enjoy some of my treats when I want, even though I really don’t crave them anymore. It’s nice to not feel guilty about eating these things. I hate feeling restricted.
Today was a total day off from working out and cardio. It’s so nice to rest your body and let it rebuild itself. That’s when the magic happens.

Scott,
Ya sold me, and I’ve just started the every other day diet. I was just a few weeks into your fit chic program, and a few weeks more into taking Ju Jitsu lessons with my son.
I’ve been medically obese for many years, and been working on weight loss and body composition for a year under a Naturopath’s care (First Line Therapy). It’s served me well, dropping nearly 30 lbs.
I’m also 47 years old.
Scott, I’m not sure if I’m coming or going in terms of burn days, feed days, cardio, resistance, etc. The real problem is the Ju Jitsu. I love it. It’s the first sport I’ve ever felt passionate about (okay, the hugging and squeezing may account for much of my enthusiasm), but it leaves me bruised and very sore. Some of my bruises are 3 weeks old, and it’s hard to lift my arms up above my shoulders most days (r.t. tumbling). I usually takes me 5 days to mostly recover from a Ju Jitsu class, and they are Tuesdays and Thursdays. I also have been doing Tai Chi for a couple years, and have an hour and a half class on Saturdays.
How should I best fit it all together?
I am seeing awesome results with your program. I feel guilty eating desserts on feed days (I’ve done so well on eating for so long), though.
Thanks so much for publishing your program (and I can’t wait to see the updated pictures of you and Angie!).
Sincerely,
Gillian
Hi Gillian,
Sorry for the delayed response. I appreciate your comments so very much. The key to any program is compliance. The key to living a healthy lifestyle is compliance.
The best way to comply is to have fun. It sure sounds like you are having fun with Ju Jitsu and if that’s the case you should stick with it.
With The Fit Chic Program I have it split up into 4 days of workouts. What I recommend you do is just 2 days of workouts from the program.
So instead of following a schedule like…
Monday: Chest & Triceps
Tuesday: Legs
Thursday: Back & Biceps
Friday: Shoulders & Abs
Do…
Monday: Chest, Triceps & Shoulders
Tuesday: Ju Jitsu
Wed: off
Thurs: Ju Jitsu
Friday: Legs, Back, & Biceps
Reduce the number of exercises per body part to just 1.
You should be getting enough ab workout with Ju Jitsu, Tai Chi, and the other body training with The Fit Chic workouts.
It definitely sounds like you were over training and not allowing your body to recover.
In terms of burn days and feed days, If you are following the Every Other Day Diet Lifestyle Plan they basically say the days of the week that will be a feed day.
There’s no need to feel guilty about eating desserts on feed days. If you get to the point where you no longer want it, then it’s ok to eliminate it, but don’t deprive yourself and definitely don’t feel guilty about it.
Congratulate yourself on a job well done!
Keep up the great work Gillian. Continue to do the things that you enjoy and love, and love yourself at the same time.
Have a totally awesome day!
