Every Other Day Diet Journal-Day-1-Detox

The first day on the Every Other Day Diet 7-day detox went pretty smooth. Like I said, the detox is just a kick start before the real program begins. I’ve never really been a fan of detoxes, but this one seems pretty mild in comparison, yet it definitely does the trick. I bet you want to know if I’m experiencing any typical side effects of a detox…
There was only about 30 minutes today where I had a very slight headache. Part of it I think is due to the cutting out of caffeine. I’ve experienced the same thing before when I don’t have tried to eliminate coffee from my diet.
There were moments of feeling a bit tired throughout the day but nothing too bad. I played hockey late at night and still had my usual energy on the ice.

The only tough moments were watching our kids eat whole wheat spagetti with ground turkey and pasta sauce. My mouth watered for a minute and then it passed as I enjoyed my huge salad.
Honestly I don’t think I’ve eaten this many fruits and vegetables in one day ever. I’m definitely missing the protein right now, but feel pretty darn good.

Here’s Angie’s perspective:
I just want to say for the record that this if my first ‘cleanse’….I’m sure my body will be very thankful. It is my first day and so far I am feeling quite my normal self. It is about 2:30pm and I have dutifully eaten my fruit every 2 hours this morning. I have also been carrying my lemon water with me wherever I go….I love this lemon water. I’ve never been one to add lemon much to my water but I really like it now and can vision myself making this a routine.
I even walked this morning! So now it is time to eat my vegetables. I have already rinsed and washed some peppers. I also have some salad in the fridge. I don’t feel any strong cravings, no headache, and not very fatigued. So this is going great so far!
I know it’s only my first day but I thought I’d have to strap my arms down to my body to control my food pleasures. I think getting prepared psychologically for this is HUGE. My husband Scott and I talked about what we would eat today; last night. I had already stocked the fridge with tons of fruit and vegetables and of course lemons! Our house smells so lemony fresh today! I wonder why…it’s only all over the counter, my clothes, and has likely seeped into my skin!
Okay it is now 6:30 pm on the first day…I am feeling just a bit sluggish and only a slight headache that comes and goes…What really pumps me up is that I usually feel really tired at about 1pm and I didn’t feel any real ‘lows’ today in terms of energy.
I have hypoglycemic symptoms, but have never been actually diagnosed. My doctor did say that my symptoms do indicate that I have this condition. One of the biggest struggles for me is that I can feel so energetic one moment and then in the next moment my mind feels so cloudy, my body feels fatigued, and I have a hard time concentrating.
