Are all those high calorie beverages and deserts from Starbucks making you fat? In today’s Great Fat Loss Debate with Scott Tousignant, Scott Colby, and special guest Kevin Gianni, we discus how Starbucks is contributing to the rise in obesity of adults and children, and if it’s their responsibility to take action and educate their customers about making healthy choices. Is Starbucks supersizing us just as McDonald’s has, or are they becoming more proactive?
I personally love Starbucks and I’m a very regular customer. Can you guess what my beverage of choice is?
Starbucks is actually very good at advertising the nutritional content of their menu on their website www.starbucks.com. You may be surprised that your favorite drink is over 500 calories and that’s for a medium sized drink (grande) and without the whip cream and syrup.
To put that into perspective each of my 6 meals per day are less than 500 calories. Those meals are very satisfying with a lean protein, carb, and healthy fat.
Now add a dessert to that drink and for most women that are trying to lose weight you have now consumed over half and even three quarters of your daily calories. And you are most likely still hungry after that.
So what do we think about Starbucks?
