I just received a great email about how natural foods like fruits and vegetables are all a part of Nature’s Pharmacy. It’s pretty neat how each fruit and vegetable below show distinct characteristics of what body part they impact the most with their nutrient rich properties. Take a look at the pictures below along with the body part that they effect the most. It’s pretty awesome!

Nature’s Pharmacy

A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye…

And YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart..

Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex.

We now know walnuts help develop more than three dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don’t have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

Avocadoes, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female – they look just like these organs. Today’s research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? It takes exactly nine months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility.

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries.

Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

Onions look like the body’s cells. Today’s research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

I hope that you enjoyed this cute little demonstration of Nature’s Pharmacy. If anything, I hope that it makes you realize the importance of eating natural foods that came from the Earth. You’re not going to get these kinds of health benefits from processed foods that’s for sure.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Share them below in the comment box.

This past weekend I was a presenter at Ryan Lee’s Fitness Bootcamp which was an absolute blast. When I was up on stage in front of 300 incredible personal trainers from around the world I pulled out my flip camera and asked them one question, “If you could share one piece of advice to inspire my readers to take action, what would it be?” Chris Politi of www.themaximusmovement.com stepped up and said something so simple, yet so powerful. Watch this short video to hear what Chris had to share…

Chris said, “Life is about movement!” It doesn’t get an simpler than that, yet that’s often what holds us back. We spend too much time seeking out the latest and greatest strategies and end up experiencing paralysis by analysis and nothing happens.

That first step can be the most difficult, but once you take it momentum is on your side. It doesn’t matter if you are doing hardcore weight training, yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, or any other form of exercise. What matters most is that you make the time on a daily basis to get your butt moving.

As Chris said, “It doesn’t matter if you walk like a frog, turtle, or duck, just get moving.” He said that with a smirk on his face, and I gather the point that he was trying to make was to have fun when you are being active.

So what type of movement are you doing today?

I already did my 7 minute workout from Jon Benson’s 7 Minute Muscle program and am about to head out the door and go for a 30 minute bike ride along the Belle River.

I am typing this while watching Angie in the next room doing her workout from The Fit Chic program and I know that she’s going for a brisk walk while I play with the kids after dinner.

Ya, you better believe that play time with my kids counts as a great workout. I sweat just as much chasing them as I do at the gym and I love every second of it. Tonight we are playing army tag or ball tag. We’ll have to see what Shayne and Noelle decide.

Live is about movement so lets get active!

When it comes to fat loss one of the biggest myths is that it costs more to eat healthy. This is nothing more than an excuse and a self limiting belief. I dare you to send me your food bill for the week and I’ll compare it side by side with mine. If you think that living off of fast food and processed food is cheaper, you’ll be in for a shock. Trust me, when you do an honest comparison of how much a person following an unhealthy processed food diet pays for food with how much all of us health conscious people who consume mostly natural foods, you’ll be shopping the outer isles at the supper market like us.

Not quite convinced? Check this out…

Cost Of Healthy Food vs Unhealthy Food

2 medium size sweet potatoes $1 or… small fries from a fast food joint

2 red peppers $1 or… a can of pop

Bowl of oatmeal with fruit & protein powder $2 or… large bag of chips

6 Chicken Breasts $10 or… a sub combo from a fast food joint

18 eggs $3.50 or… a burger from a fast food joint

2 salmon fillets $15 or… large pizza

Loaded chicken salad (homemade) $3 or… bag of cookies

Large bag of oatmeal $3.50 or… 4 chocolate bars

I give some other examples in the video and there are many more examples that I will be showing you. The thing to consider is that when you follow an unhealthy eating program you tend to eat larger quantities of food which ends up costing you much more.

When you follow a healthy nutrition program you become more aware of your portions and your level of satisfaction or fullness during each meal. Your reasons for eating become much different. You eat because you want to provide your body with the best possible fuel to allow you to be the most energetic, focused, and productive person that you can be.

What are your thoughts?

Still not convinced?

Weigh in on this issue by sharing your thoughts and feedback. I want to hear from you. Let your voice be heard by sharing your comments below.

Empower your mind… and your body will follow!

Hi everyone, I just came across an article about the ‘Benefits of Drinking Water’ and I thought it was worth reading. Can you believe that 2/3 of our body weight is made up of water? Wow. Check out the benefits under the title, “Miracle Worker.” I know that many people shrug it off and keep drinking their sodas. However, this really should be taken seriously. It is so simple to do too. Once you get into a routine of drinking it, like everything else, it just becomes a habit.

I was also amazed at the results of a study that revealed those people who only drink 5 glasses of water per day were 41% LESS likely to die of a heart attack during the study as compared to those people who only drank 2 glasses of water per day.

Today is a very special day for me. I’m the proud father of my nearly 7 year old son Shayne, and my beautiful 5 year old daughter Noelle. My family means everything to me. I experienced a wonderful moment while filming one of the workouts from The Fit Bastard Express program recently. It made me realize the positive influence that I’m having on my children. Here’s the video of the 10 minute express workout that I did. Take note of 3 separate times where my daughter models my behavior.

Shoulder & Ab Workout

The first time that my daughter surprises me and comes into the picture she sees me doing a shoulder press on the stability ball. So she decides to grab a smaller stability ball and 5 pound dumbbells and do a shoulder press herself.

The next time she comes into the picture she brings me some water in one of her toy tea cups. She obviously knows the value of water. She didn’t bring me a pop or a beer. She brought me what we all drink in our house… refreshing water.

The last time that Noelle pops into the picture she begins to do burpees. Now I wasn’t even doing burpees, but she has seen me do it before. She even asks me if I’m going to do them in the workout. Maybe I should hire her as my trainer

Looking at these pictures of my beautiful, healthy, energetic children, it makes me aware that I owe them the gift of providing them with the healthiest father that I could possibly be. I would do anything for these two miracles that I helped create.

That includes waking up early to do cardio, pushing my self just beyond my limits, stepping outside my comfort zone and experiencing my best workouts ever, eating healthy natural foods on a consistent basis, and participating in fun activities together as a family.

They are a major driving force for me, there’s no doubt about that. And seeing the impact that I’m having on them and knowing that they will be role models for other children, really brings a smile to my face.

Living in optimal health is a great gift for my children, and besides a loving and healthy family, the next best gift that I could receive came from myself…

The gift of 6 pack abs!

I consider all the hard work that I went through to achieve 6 pack abs, as a gift to myself. It was the best thing that I could have ever done for myself.

Give yourself and your family the best gift that you could possibly give. The gift of optimal health.

With the 10 – 20 minute express home workouts you can get in great shape even when your kids are around. And it’s much more enjoyable when they surprise you as my daughter did in the video.

Be a positive role model for your children. They deserve it as much as you deserve to be living in the best physique possible.

Start using the same workouts that I used to get 6 pack abs and have your wife follow the same program that Angie used to get 6 pack abs. You can find them at…

www.TheFitBastard.com/ActionTaker.php

As a bonus you also get The Fit Chic year of workouts for FREE! This way your children can have 2 parents living in optimal health. There’s no better gift than that.

So treat yourself today to a workout program that not only fits your lifestyle, but is one that you can stick with for life.

I hope that you enjoyed the video. And to all the dad’s out there… Happy Father’s Day!

Give your beautiful children a hug from the Tousignant family.

Have a 6 Pack Abs-solutely awesome day!

Hello everyone!! We are back from our family vacation! We went on a Carribean Cruise. It was so beautiful to experience the different Islands and just stare at the sea…endless sea…it was truly mesmerizing. Now I feel so refreshed and ready to help you out in any way that I can! I really mean this, if there is anything I can do to help you to achieve a healthy lifestyle – I am listening. I am anxious to get working to meet all of your needs.

I hope you are all starting your “New Year” out right with great, healthy intentions! I also want to mention that while we were away, Scott and I still found the time to get to the fitness centre on the ship and get in an intense workout. It was actually very enjoyable because it was a different environment and I was surrounded by other like-minded people. Although we were on ‘vacation’ we all still held the same mentality that ‘exercise is part of our lifestyle.’ When you truly reach this way of thinking, nothing gets in your way! You wouldn’t walk out the door to work in your underwear, right? (well, I hope not!) You get dressed in the morning…it’s part of your routine. Look at your exercise and eating habits in the same context and just make it part of your everyday routine. Schedule it in. There are no excuses.

I was impressed with the variety of healthy food choices while we were away. So many fruits and vegetables! We ate so well…a lot of fish too. Of course, we treated ourselves to dessert! However, what I’m trying to get across is that we chose the healthier foods each day. We had our share of ‘not so healthy’ foods, but they were limited. When you know the real reason why you want to lose body fat, you have a stronger drive to achieve it. Do you know your powerful WHY? A hint: it’s a more powerful reason than just what the number on the scale says.

If you have not listened to Scott’s audio series: Unstoppable Fat Loss, I highly encourage you to take the plunge and check out this incredibly motivating product. You will learn the reasons why you are not achieving your fitness goals and how you can become more motivated and UNSTOPPABLE when it comes to achieving success. It really is so uplifting and filled with 21 amazing stories of people around the world that have finally found that motivating factor in their life and they want to share it with all of you.

Listening to this while you are walking and/or jogging along with following Jon Benson’s Every Other Day Diet – Lifestyle Plan (what I follow) will get you started on the correct path to success. I guarantee you will see results. Of course you are missing one more piece of the puzzle and that is weight training. I am a busy mom and I always find the time to spend 20 minutes on weight training 4x/week. That is not much time ladies! That is a total of 80 minutes a week! These are quick, but very intense workouts. I do them in the comfort of my own home with a stability ball and some free weights. You can too! Check me out at: The Fit Chic’s Year of Workouts. I savour this time to work my muscles like gold. I feel like a million bucks afterwards.

Today, I plan on getting my workout in before dinner. I usually try to get it done in the a.m. , however I still feel really groggy and dizzy from the cruise ship. I guess it was a little rocky! This is the bonus of working out at home though. It is just easier to find that 20 minutes to spare…my kids are sometimes running around me…oh well…as long as no one gets hurt! They are cute, they are usually imitating what I’m doing. (or trying to!)

I suggest you write out your goals for the next two months. What do you want your weight to be? What size do you want to fit into? Go try on that dress at the mall that you want to fit into! See yourself already fitting into it…listen to the unstoppable fat loss audio…empower yourself girls! You have all the power within you. Take action today!

Cheers to health,

Angie

Hello there! I just to share with you the wonderful evening Scott and I had with our neighbourhood friends. We decided to meet up at a restaurant for dinner. There was not much variety on the menu and I was feeling so stuffed from eating cheese and potatoes the last few days…however, there was something called “SoHo Chicken Salad” Wow, it was so delicious!

There was a lot of chicken, red onions, mandarin oranges, chinese noodles, and poppy seeds. As we were waiting for our food everyone was asking each other what they ordered. When I told them what I ordered, most of the responses were, ‘that’s it’ and ‘aren’t you hungry?’ The funny thing was that when they saw my plate they were all drooling over how good it looked and how large the salad was. I was so full afterward! I am following the Every Other Day Diet – Lifestyle Plan and it truly was the perfect meal for me.

I was totally satisfied and energized afterward. I wanted to share this with you because I know some of you may think that it is difficult to eat a healthy meal when you are at a restaurant. Or, you may feel that you have to order a full size meal when the rest of your party is. I am here to tell you to be a leader! Be the healthy role model in your group of friends! Find friends that support your healthy food choices and choose to live the lifestyle of champions.

Okay, so that was the first part of our evening. Then we all went to Rock N’ Bowl and had a blast! The lights were dimmed and awesome dance music was blaring in our ears! It was so much fun! My bowling score was humiliating, but the laughs were endless!

The final and most hilarious part of our night ended with two couples coming back to our home to participate in a DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) challenge! For those of you whom have Playstation 2 may know what I’m talking about. If you do not, it is a game where you have a mat on the floor in front of you and it has arrows where your feet will go. You watch the t.v. screen and you try to match up the arrows on the screen with your foot movement. Basically, you are doing dance moves and you can make choose a ‘beginner’ all the way up to an ‘elite’ level. I have yet to conquer the ‘difficult’ level. I always get booted off!

Do you sweat? Is your heart rate through the roof? Is it addictive? Is it fun? The answer to all of this is OMG , YES! It is an amazing fun cardio workout! We had such a blast with our friends! It’s just as much fun to watch them as to do it yourself. I have been practicing it on the ‘workout mode’ and I am breaking out in such a sweat! It’s fantastic! So if you need some spice to your cardio routine, or worse yet, if you do not have a cardio routine…look into this DDR. It really is a blast. The funniest part is that Scott and I are the only ones using it! We bought it for our 4 and 6 year old. They are not interested in it – YET. I know the time will come.

We will post a video soon of what exactly it is. I love it because its another dimension to add to my Fit Chic Year of Workouts that I follow each day. A couple of days in the week, I only do cardio. So I can choose DDR now and its so much fun. I’m sure once my daughter sees how much fun I am having, she will hope right on. For the girls who are already following the Fit Chic Year of Workouts you can choose DDR on two days and then walk for at least 30 minutes the other two days.

Remember, too, if you need some extra motivation during your walk just listen to the Unstoppable Fat Loss audio series. You can download it right to your MP3 player or ipod. Trust me, it’ll give you that extra skip in your step that you’ve been lacking. It will totally get your mind opened up to the possibilities that you can attain by simply controlling your thoughts. I know I’ve said it before, but yes I cannot stress it enough…IT IS POWERFUL. It’s all about real people, real life stories, real change.

I hope I’ve enlightened you in some way today…

Cheers to health,

Angie
