Five reasons why you should feel guilty about over-eating during the holiday weekend and indulging in chocolate bunnies…

5) You believe in striving for perfection

4) You love to verbally abuse yourself with phrases such as, “You’re such a failure. I hate myself for always sabotaging my goals.”

3) You believe that chocolate is evil and will go directly to your hips the second it touches your lips.

2) You get a high from the self torture that you go through as you watch everyone else eat desert while you refuse.

Have you thought about your New Year’s Resolutions yet? Most people have some intention of trying to get healthier in the next year. The problem is that their plan is not very specific and it lacks the compelling reasons WHY they want to be in better shape. If you fall into the category of going all out come Jan 1 – working out 5 days/week, eating well, feeling great, only to wake up one morning with enough motivation to shut off the alarm clock, you definitely need to dig deeper into why you want to lose the weight and come up with a long term plan.

Do you find you are mostly on your own when it comes to eating healthy and having intentions of losing weight? Is your partner overweight, yet doing nothing about it? Are you the only one in your household enjoying large salads, nuts, and fresh fruit and berries?

Stronger CORE…Pain No More!

Did you know that creating a strong ‘CORE’ will alleviate lower back pain and reduce injury? These exercises are a killer and will totally fatigue those core muscles. I suggest that you go through this routine 2X and peform this 2X/week. This is about a 6 minute workout.

I perform 6 different core exercises in the video that target your obliques (side of abdominal muscles), external and internal obliques, transverse abdominis muscle, and many other smaller muscles that support your spine.

What Does ‘Exercise’ Mean To You?

I’ve read a very intriguing article today that I wanted to summarize for you. Basically people need to expand their thoughts surrounding exercise to include the tasks that involve movement on a daily basis. Exercise should not be narrowly viewed as that ‘time slot’ at the gym or your early walk in the morning. People really need to look at ways to incorporate more ‘movement’ into their everyday routines. Did you know that in the last 150 years the average amount of calories burned on a daily basis from walking, working, playing, and fidgeting is down by 2,000? This is a staggering number! Why do you think this is?

Clementines – A Healthy Snack

Widely available right now are scrumptious, tiny clementines. They are available from November – March. To pick them fresh…look for: shiny, bright, and orange features. They should be firm, yet leave a slight indentation when squeezed.

Clementines are an awesome source of vitamin C, fiber, folate, and potassium. A medium size fruit is only 50 calories and they are the perfect size for little hands!

Excellent as a light snack, very easy to peel…and can also be used up in salads or desserts.

I suggest you put them in a bowl so that they are VISIBLE and easy to grab!

Cheers to health,

Angie

How Do Successful Dieters Respond?

I thought this was an interesting study to report from Boston College: “60% of the successful dieters had strong beliefs that they could handle uncomfortable situations. Their thoughts reflect a very positive and firm belief that they are in control of their eating.”
Whereas, two-thirds of the unsuccessful dieters reported worries about what other people were thinking of them.

You, too, can be a very successful eater. Work on these stategies:

Too Much Reading…Too Little Doing…

Hello all,

I’ve been hearing lately from family and friends about how many books they have on weight loss. They have so many books on their shelves and are trying to organize them. Complaining that they have not even opened some of them. Or, that the book was not what they had expected…or that they liked the book, but it is flawed because they are not getting the results they anticipated.

Does this sound familiar to you? Do you tend to jump from one program to the other, hoping for some kind of a miracle? Do you truly think that you will find that one unique book and/or program that will solve all of your weight loss problems? Well, if you do, I’m sorry to tell you this, but you are going to be greatly disappointed. Why? Because there is only one true answer to lifetime weight loss success and that is:
