Having an organized kitchen is one of the most important things that you can do in your journey to fat loss success. As an example I would like to share a video tour of my fitness mentor and friend Tom Venuto’s kitchen. After you are done watching the video lets discus how you are going to implement these strategies in your household…

The other thing to take note of here. Only stock healthy foods in your fridge, freezer, and cupboards. If you are going to treat yourself do it outside of your home. Go to the corner store for a chocolate bar, or go out to eat at a restaurant.
So what are you going to implement from what you’ve observed in the tour of Tom Venuto’s kitchen? Do you do anything different in your kitchen that helps you make smart and healthy food choices? I’d love to hear from you so please share your comments and suggestions below.

I wholeheartedly agree with the rice cooker / steamer. We’ve only recently got one and I wish we’d picked one up years ago. Brilliant for rice and steaming veggies. Didn’t know you can get brown basmati. Will look around for it here. DW usually uses white basmati. I also love sweet potatoes and my oatmeal. Always get organic oatmeal as it’s easy to get and not much more expensive. Definitely healthier too as some of the chemicals they use for oat farming here are pretty nasty.
I always cook extra at supper for my lunches at work, I am never eating “fast food” or “junk”, or days when I am home but very busy. I freeze a lot of healthy soups and meals and pop em in the microwave, for a quick meal. Not much extra work. I keep reusable containers handy all the time. I plan my snakcs and meals at least a day ahead. I always keep the fridge loaded with veggies and I hate wasting anything so that way I eat it. My other theory is if I don’t buy it I don’t eat it, I keep to my list as though it is law. I keep a small container of homemade trail mix in my purse, I make “trail mix” with no added salt or oils. Its not just about your kitchen its about having what you need with you too.

I have an old Black and Decker steamer that works for rice too, but as I don’t eat rice constantly, it does not sit out on the counter. Wish I had room to keep it out, but I don’t. Priority is for the appliances I use most, my Vita-mixer has top billing there!
Snacks are usually in the fridge as well… honestly, we don’t get the freshest produce in our stores and I’d rather have fresh fruit that’s fit to eat than fruit that is too quickly going bad on the countertop. It’s just not that difficult to open the fridge and get something out.
I don’t bring junk home, so that’s not an issue. I could wish they made fridges with larger veggie bins though! My veggies always totally overflow the bin and are found on the shelves as well. Very few go to waste… most often waste is because something will look fine in the store, but end up going bad within a day or two after getting it home. Sigh.
During the summer, shopping at the farmer’s market helps. But that closes after this Friday. Hubby got to the one last week and said there wasn’t much for veggies, no doubt due to the recent freeze.
Video was cute… I have a shelf of eggs that looks almost like Tom’s. However, the video content just wasn’t worth the long download time as far as I was concerned.
