The objective of my title is to get you to think about all the things in your life that you are permitting to hold you back from achieving your dream body.
Do you have a preplanned answer for when someone asks you why you are not in the best shape and even significantly overweight?
Maybe it’s your thyroid that’s the problem, or lack of time, fatigue, no support, poor genetics, or even big bones?
For some people these obstacles appear larger than Mt. Everest. Today I would like to put those obstacles into perspective for you.
In my last article I shared the beautiful story of Dick and Rick Hoyt, and reminded you that your goal of achieving the body of your dreams is 100% possible.
Well here’s some more inspiration for you.
Last week Tom Venuto shot an email over to me telling me to check out this amazing story of courage, compassion, and perserverance. I was extremely grateful that Tom introduced me to the story of Nino Savona, as it immediately inspired me to pick my training up several notches and I hopped right on the stationary bike and had one of my best training sessions ever.
I encourage you to read the full story written by Tom Venuto covering the amazing accomplishments and the obstacles overcome by Nino Savona. You can read it here:

Nino also has a fascinating blog where he shares his training regime and much more. You can check that out here: http://www.ninosmission.com
I chose the title ‘What’s Your Crutch?’, because Nino’s actual obstacle are the crutches that he uses as a result of an unsuccessful surgery.
Now for most people that would be more than enough hold us back from ever achieving anything that resembled a healthy body. And in the beginning that’s exactly what Nino did. But when he was 14 he changed that and not only did he refuse to allow this obstacle to hold him back, but he used it as motivation and is on a mission to help others blast down any barier in their way.
Let me tell you. Nothing is going to get in the way of Nino and his dreams and I encourage you to follow his example. You truly can accomplish anything you set your mind and heart to. I am 100% certain of that.
Now in my last article I asked you what your driving force is. There are 2 things that motivate Nino. He has been told many times by several people that competing in a bodybuilding competition was impossible.
How many times have any of your friends and family told you that achieving your dream body was impossible? I’m sure you have heard it more than once. Do you experience that adrenaline rush and anger stir up in your stomach and you just want to go out right at that moment and get in totally amazing shape to prove them wrong?
Or do you listen to them and just submit to the fact that you will continue to live a life overweight?
Think of how much you let so many people influence your life in a negative way. How many people are responsible for holding you back from achieving your dreams?
Answer: 1….You! You have the ability to look at that criticism and use it as motivation and completely turn your life around. It’s your choice.
There is one more powerful motivating force for Nino and here is a little exerpt from Tom’s article about Nino……
“When I asked him what else motivates him to do this, he simply looked up, pointed up and said, “Him.†Nino’s faith in God gives him the confidence to know that he has a purpose and mission for being here on Earth.
Most bodybuilders will tell you that bodybuilding is not just a sport, it is a lifestyle. For Nino, bodybuilding is even more than a lifestyle — it’s part of his life’s purpose and something he lives for. It is what drives him and keeps him going day to day despite his challenges. When he has a moment or a day that he feels like nothing is going his way, instead of getting angry, he goes to the gym, “blows off some steam†and finds himself feeling great again.”
Faith is a very powerful motivator for many people. Nino even adds to that motivation by believing that it’s his life’s purpose. Now that’s what I call deep down desire and an incredibly powerful driving force.
So if a man that was born premature and walks with the use of crutches can achieve a body that is totally ripped and chiseled….What’s your excuse?
He started his journey weighing 240 pounds too, so this was no easy task.
There are two messages that I have really been trying to get across in this article and the last one. One of the biggest factors in whether you achieve your goals or not is how powerful your driving force is.
Are you just trying to lose weight for the sake of losing weight or looking better. Or does it go much deeper than that?
Do you want to achive your dream body to set an example for your children or even to make sure that you are around long enough to see them get married and have children?
Do you want to achieve your goals to prove to others that you can do it and help others do the same?
Find that deep down desire and powerful reason why and you will make the likelyhood of achieving your goals much, much greater.
Second, there is absolutely no reason why you should not be living in your dream body. You are capable. You just need to do it. You can do it!
I hope that you have been inspired and again I encourage you to read the full story by Tom. It’s truly remarkable. Here’s the link again: http://ninosmission.com/ninos-story
