Hello, I don’t know where you live but we are close to Windsor, Ontario, Canada and it is cold!! We are suppose to get a winter storm tomorrow, about 15cm of snow! I love snow! I find most people do not like the cold weather and they just want to stay inside. However…

The Fit Chic
This is when I love to get my kids outside and have snowball fights and/or go tobogganing. I love to pull them in the sled because it is an excellent cardio workout! It is a way for me to have fun with my children while at the same time get my exercise in. Also, building a snowman or fort will burn lots of calories. Just running after them…especially with all of that winter clothing on, it will really get you working up a sweat.

So look at that winter weather as an opportunity to embrace the different activities that you can do with your kids. You really can have a blast out there! Just bundle up and ‘be a kid again.’ Your children will love you for it too. Another great workout would be going up and down those toboggan hills! My daughter has me helping her to get up the hill each time she goes down…I really feel my legs burning after this! It’s a great feeling though.

Other times we love to just walk around the block and look for animal tracks in the snow. It is so much fun. Sometimes we try to follow them to see where they’ll take us. Or we will try to guess which animal it belongs to. Other activities for you and your kids are: fill up a spray bottle with coloured water-they will love seeing the snow ‘change colour,’ find different pails and/or containers that you can fill with snow and create forts with them, seeing who can jump the farthest in the snow (measure your footprints), create a path to follow, make angels in the snow…the list is endless if you use your imagination!

So get out there and enjoy the nature around you,

Cheer to health,

Angie
